I am not one who would consider themselves all that lucky. Of course, I know I am for all that I have, my health, family, wonderful friends and all that other great stuff but on a day to day basis, like playing the lottery or buying a raffle ticket, I rarely win a thing. Who would have ever thought I'd be lucky enough to win a pair of boots pre-owned by my favorite singer, Sheryl Crow? Surely not me! She sings the songs of my life and I love her so much but these things always go way above my grasp since I am a poor working girl. Although as I watched the auction it appeared I might just be able to snatch a pair of her boots within reason. Wow, I couldn't believe my eyes! The girl certainly has some good taste so I wanted them all and I was watching all the boots that came close to my size. I mean I had to be able to wear them or why bother. Her feet are a bit bigger than my own. One of about 20 items would be mine, if possible. I've been shopping on eBay for years and sell crochet items there so I knew I had to be ruthless and bid at the very last minute and place my top bid. Talk about a nervous wreck that morning. I had told myself not to be disappointed because it was unlikely I would even be in the running come the last minute but I watched with anticipation all morning as the bid never went any higher than the $150 bid I saw each time I looked at this pair. When it came down to the last minute I put in my bid of $200 as top bid and to my surprise it only went up to $153 with myself as the winning bidder. Yippeee! Add an extra $18 for shipping and for under $200 I was the proud owner of a pair of Sheryl's boots. I couldn't have been happier! When they arrived I put them on and wore them around the house all evening. I don't know if a person can actually feel cooler than they are but that's how I felt. And kind of funky! lol I loaded my cd player with some of her older cd's including "Home For Christmas" so I was all set for the season. The flashback jam session was on. I've had the best time and I finally wore my boots over the holiday. Love, love, love!
I had the pleasure of making a new friend on Facebook after posting on Sheryl's page about winning the boots. She herself had won a pair and was feeling as cool and funky as I was. I stated I was planning to wear them drinking on a Tuesday with a guy named William but I bet his name will be Bill, or Billy, or Mack or Buddy and she stated she had been saying the same thing (lyrics from Sheryl's first hit song "All I Wanna Do"). As it turns out she only lives two hours from me and we plan to get our boots together come spring. With any luck Sheryl may do a tour and we could meet there. Now that would be cool and funky!
The auction is over but if you would like to make a donation to Feeding America you can do so here.

“It is so important for everyone across the country to dare to be conscious and aware of the struggles of those around them—even if those struggles are not the same as their own. Feeding America does just that, and it’s a great privilege for me to unite with them in their cause.” ~ Sheryl Crow
