Music Monday - WNKU - Public Radio That Rocks

Programs/Crossroad Blues - Every Friday Night
While in the midst of cleaning and moving things around the office after the fellow crashed into our building I found I could pick up the public radio station that my boss is always raving about. I had never been able to pick it up on the old radio I use but when my boss moved out to my area for a couple of days while his office was being repaired he let me know that recently the radio station obtained a new frequency which is close to us. It used to be a country station that I knew I could pick up but never had any desire to as I am not a huge fan of country music. Well, not mainstream country music anyway and while WNKU plays a little country music they play almost everything else too. I even heard a Frank Zappa song the other day.  While I haven't heard any heavy metal or pop music I've heard such a variety of rock n' roll and blues that I haven't missed it at all. They even play The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Besid…

Lightroom 5

I have been using Photoshop for quite some time but I have never really gotten the hang of it. I got as far as I needed to edit a bit and never learned any more about it. I have been wanting to take a class but when I mentioned it to my son he suggested that I purchase the Lightroom software. He said it was easier to use and was probably more up my alley for my purpose, which is just to enhance my photos I take for fun. The edition I purchased is Adobe Lightroom 5. I just today started messing with it a bit and I must say he was right. I was able to figure out the basic settings in one session. If I can use it right off the bat, believe me anyone can. I can't wait to see what it will do when I actually do some reading up on it.

Someone else's misfortune

A few weeks ago, during our last ice storm, I was sitting at my desk when I heard a huge crash. I thought, OMG, the ceiling has fallen on my boss. As I hopped up I heard, what the hell, come from his office so I knew he was ok. He came out saying someone had hit the corner of the building. We walked outside to see what happened and sure enough there sat a truck up over the bush and into the building. Luckily no one was hurt. That is if you don't count having the holy hell scared out of us all!
As it turned out the carpet was ripped up so we ended up getting carpet for the whole downstairs which meant new carpet for my area. Yay! I have worked here for many years but I was in another area for a few years. Since I moved I haven't done much to my spot due to the fact that the way the desk sat it was impossible to get cords down the side and things hooked up where they should be. It is also impossible without professional help to move the desk. Not to mention it's the main sp…

Crocus in Bloom

I went for a walk today and the only flower I found was one lonely yellow bunch of crocus. One is better than none though, and it made me smile. For awhile anyway. After I found out it was going to snow a bit more tomorrow I decided to hit the grocery for stuff to make old fashioned vegetable soup. Since it tends to take all day to make Fadra and I went for walks outside between tending to the soup. She loved her bone she got out of it and I must say the soup hit the spot. A beautiful day!
