It's never gonna warm up so I might as well wear my gorgeous coat

It's the end of March and it's still snowing. Not that I'm really complaining because it is beautiful and we didn't get much last year but I do have to say enough is enough, though. It could have been kinder to my work schedule if it was going to keep this up. I haven't had to miss any work due to all this mess. I was so hoping for a snow day today! After all I have the first season of The Walking Dead in black and white I've been dying to watch. I did get off early a couple of days but no snow days. Also, I was hoping to be photographing daffodils by now, not snow. I heard on the news that Punxsutawney Phil had been indicted by one of our local prosecutors for falsely predicting an early spring on Groundhog's Day. Guess I'm not the only one that thinks enough is enough. Phil must have predicted an early release from his job to his handler if he didn't set things straight because he stepped up and took the blame so regardless of Phil's bad prediction he will receive a pardon. However I hope he plans to hide out awhile until everyone thaws out a bit around here ♥

♥ Coat - Modcloth sleek and sable coat This coat is no longer available on Modcloth. I looked a bit online to see if I could locate it but I was unable to find anything. The label says Latte.
♥ Boots - Vintage 1990's
♥ Sweater - Eddie Bauer
♥ Tights - JC Penny's in Ivory

I purchased this coat to wear to the Matchbox Twenty show when I heard the weather was going to be below zero and sleeting but after I got it I realized it was a little too much coat to lay in a seat at a concert. The coat is extremely thick and heavy. I figured that I would have to wait until next year to wear it. I got it on sale but I think it would have been worth full price. I love it! It's almost more like a thick dress, though, and would be perfect for an outdoor event in the cold. I didn't think that event would come to pass this year after all but look here it is March and I'm able to wear my coat after all. I think I'm going groundhog hunting!

  1. Gorgeous coat, Darlene! I am for forgiving the groundhog too - I mean, the weather forecasters are wrong about 60% of the time too : > Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.

    1. Hi Patti, thanks for stopping by. I always said I wish I had been a weather forecaster. The only job you can be wrong most of the time and it doesn't effect your performance :o)

  2. OMG, that coat. THAT COAT. Thank you for going to find the link and reporting back because otherwise I'd be spending hours on that site looking for it.

The black and white combo--white legs--is startling and unexpected and PERFECT.

Please tell me your dog doesn't shed. Because I'm thinking you will be brushing that coat off for-ev-er to get it clean again. LOL

    1. Thanks for your sweet compliments! Hope you are able to find the coat some place. It is lovely. Fadra doesn't shed so I'm good there. She's like a big cotton puff. Thankfully because she has to get in on the action :o)

  3. So evocative that coat ... with your little Victorian-reference boots... there are half a dozen narratives going on here! Very, very cool. Looking sleek, madam.

    1. Thanks Jan, I actually kept thinking with some red and white striped socks, a pointed hat and a broom I'd be all set for Halloween this year! lol

I Have Officially Retired My Ugg Boots For The Season
My Ugg boots are probably my favorite shoewear. I love them! My feet have a tendency to get cold but not while wearing these. I have read that men don't like them but I think they are cute as can be and my hubby doesn't complain. Yes, I even like them with shorts. Although I only wear them with jeans. With the sun finally coming out, sadly it's time to place them at the back of my closet.
Top: ModCloth Jeans: Levi's 515
The top I have on is the most softest thing I own and was purchased at my favorite internet clothing shop...ModCloth. It is the The-Great-Estate-Dress and is currently sold out. They have some really cool, unique items. This was listed as a dress but was a bit short for me since you can see through the bottom layer. I pulled it up a bit and it was perfect as a top with my Levis. It would be cute with leggings or a short skirt and tights too.  I'm still trying to get out of my Levis and into some more stylish outfits but I love them so. Still …

Concert Series: Miranda Cosgrove

On August 10, 2011 we took our granddaughter to see Miranda Cosgrove, you know Nickelodeon's iCarly (she also played the band manager in School of Rock). Ashley knows every episode by heart and Miranda's solo album had just came out. We were all very excited! Especially my hubby who stated if he never watched iCarly again or listened to the cd it would probably be too soon for him. Of course, he had a blast regardless of his taste in tv and music!

We went shopping for Ashley before the show and I let her pick out her outfit. A little fashionista I do believe. The hat was totally her idea! All items are from Kohls. I picked up the white skirt for myself and my top was from the Modcloth end of summer sale last year. I think you all know my old kicks :o) I, thankfully, finally got a couple of new pairs which you can see here and here.

We had 4th row seats and they allowed the kids to go down front which meant Ashley had a front row view. She was up there hand slapping and danci…

Dreaming of Paris this Morning

It is still raining which is making me blue. Day after day it keeps falling. I believe we have broken the last record set in 1936. I was just thinking how nice it would be to get outta here and go somewhere dry. I guess Las Vegas would be my best bet since it's in the desert but for some reason my thoughts have turned to Paris. Wouldn't that be nice? Too bad I'm not part of the jet set so I will only be visiting in my mind. A girl can dream, can't she?

These Alexander McQueen boots could walk me right through inches of water :o) Alexander McQueen

Or maybe this little fellow could just lift me over the flood! He looks pretty strong but he's going to have to put on some clothes before he starts carrying me around! lol

Easter, April Fool's Day, Opening Day, ducks or zombies?

GO REDS!! ♥ Dress: Calvin Klein You can also see it here.
♥ Belt: Calvin Klein (Didn't come with this dress)
♥ Shrug: Kohl's
♥ Boots: Vintage

I couldn't really decide what to write about today. There was just so much going on the last few days. First I was off Friday for the holiday, then I cooked a big pork chop dinner Saturday, went to Mom's for dinner Easter Sunday, all the while trying to get in the Walking Dead marathon (spoiler alert ahead) before the season finale last night. Today is April Fool's Day (I really did see ducks and I have the pictures to prove it) and baseball season's opening day. Where do I begin??
I guess I'll start at the beginning. I really had a nice day Friday out running around with my hubby. We had a big steak early for dinner and then hung out with friends awhile. We didn't stay out too late, just long enough to have a bit of fun. I don't like to do physical work over holidays although it's not written in stone but…

Concert Series - Ringo Starr

In March it was announced that Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band were going to play the Fraze Pavillion on July 2nd. My granddaughter is a drummer and Ringo is her favorite drummer and also her favorite Beatle so it was a no brainer that I had to get tickets for us to go. Her birthday was close to the concert date which made for a perfect gift but it was all I could do to keep the secret. 7th row center seats, I was thrilled and I knew she would be too. The day finally came and she was overwhelmed when she got her ticket. Now the fun was to begin! As I have mentioned before The Beatles are my favorite band. Being an only child in the country with only 3 tv stations I turned to music at an early age for entertainment. I was at the prime age when The Beatles hit the big time to fall in love like so many other gals. Who knew they would have such an impact at the time but that's another story. When my granddaughter was born I decided I wanted her to listen to them at an early age al…

Summer Strawberries on a thick waffle...OMG, YUM!

See what happens when I am left alone to fend for myself for dinner. A few too many calories but oh so good! I hadn't purchased waffles for quite some time but while walking through the grocery the other day I spotted these Ego Thick and Fluffy waffles. I'm not crazy about toaster waffles due to the fact that they are so skinny but these are now a new favorite. Toast them a golden brown, add fresh strawberries along with warm Mrs. Butterworth's syrup and you will be in waffle heaven. And all in about 5 minutes. Just forget about calories and indulge in a bit of sweetness for supper. You won't be sorry!

Saturday was date night!

♥ Dress:  Modcloth ♥ Sweater:  Ralph Lauren ♥ Booties: Modcloth-boots
On Saturday morning snoozing late was a must after all that booze on Friday night. After finally getting up I was still tired and since my favorite show recorded the night before I wanted to watch it while I tried to wake up. I absolutely love Haven! Although it's just one more reason to stay out of Maine :o) Art got up early and went to breakfast with his brothers and washed the car so I had the house to myself. If I wanted to watch tv in the morning, why not? I mean I was going to be another year older the next day so I figured I could do whatever I wanted. Although not productive I didn't have to wonder what strange occurrences were happening in that strange little town. I did finally get up and do a bit of housework since my family were coming over the next day for cake but I only gave it a lick and a promise. Before I knew it it was time to get ready. I bought my dress from Modcloth when they had the …
