Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Christmas this year was a little underwhelming for me. I think I started too early and stretched it all out for too long. I had all my shopping almost done in October and I had been listening to Christmas music on the radio at work since Veteran's Day (I still find myself singing, whoop dee do and dickory dock, don't forget to hang up your Although I did wait to decorate and wrap gifts it still just didn't seem like Christmas even though I had been festive since October. I got the family lots of stuff but we had to replace our tv this year so no personal gifts between my husband and me, just one each. I didn't need anything anyway but there was no special fun in opening gifts between us this year. No one at work wanted to do the yearly Christmas dinner. And to top it off I guess no snow and no kids coming over on the big day didn't help matters. Although we did have a blast at the times we did get together it was the first year I didn't have anyth…

My Christmas Coat

Ok, so Santa didn't bring any of the black coats I had picked out but he did bring this little Jessica Simpson number. I love it! I hope Santa was good to you too. I'm back to work today after a little time off. A good time was had by all but like everyone else, I do believe I am glad Christmas is over this year. It's the first year we haven't had snow in some time and even though I complain about snow it does make for a more Christmasy Christmas. Even without snow Santa managed to find us all and God blessed us also. What more could I ask for? Nothing, I say.

I've been missing John Lennon lately

//source "The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time." - John Lennon
I like the way John thinks. I always have. He is my favorite Beatle after all :o) Growing up an only child living in the country The Beatles kept me entertained and I feel blessed to have been born at the time when their music was coming out new. It was pretty awesome hearing the new albums as they came out and watching them on tv and in the movies. I've been talking about wasting time here lately and also listening to a lot of Beatles tunes for some reason (along with Happy Xmas (War Is Over) playing every hour on the hour), it has me missing John more than ever. When I came upon the above quote earlier today it made me smile. I definitely try to enjoy my time wasted so I guess I am not wasting time after all! lol Sounds like words to live by! John Lennon

Frame it

I embroidered this 34 years ago while I was pregnant with my first born. It was purchased as a kit to make a purse, however, I never got around to finishing it after the baby was born. A big surprise there! It sat in a drawer for many years until I finally threw away the trimmings and such but I always kept the embroidered cloth. Last year I finally broke down and purchased a new comforter bed set which you can read my story about it here but while I was at it I decided I needed to put up some new stuff on the walls. I decided it was time to finally frame that old piece of cloth I'd been saving for years. I love the outcome!

I also took a couple of Instagram pictures, printed them, framed and matted one and placed the other on my photo box which sets on my dresser. Voila! Instant art!

While I was at it I finally framed my Leighton Jones The Clown With Red Hair canvas lithograph for my other bedroom. I personally think canvas looks worlds better framed. I've been wanting to t…

Lovin' this nail polish

I don't know about you but time seems to always be an issue with me. I'm not sure if I am just a procrastinator, lazy or just so busy that I can't seem to find time to get everything I want to get done finished but I know that I am always looking for ways to shave off those extra minutes. I am not usually a fan of quick dry polishes because by the time you apply a base coat, two coats of polish, top coat and/or quick dry top coat you might as well use whatever type of polish you want. No matter how fast drying it is that many coats are still going to take a little bit to dry. I've never found quick dry polishes to be that quick and they seem to be too thin for one coat or they smudge as you apply. However, I do love the Sally Hansen 30 second top coat which I always use when I do my initial manicure. I like having a bit of color on my nails so I keep them polished mostly all the time. If I start to chip a bit before I'm ready to redo I just add another coat of pol…
