Just in case you have forgotten the rules for a safe and Happy Halloween.

1. When it appears that you have killed the monster, NEVER, EVER go check to see if it's really dead.

2. Never read a book of demon summoning aloud, even just mumbling to yourself, if you can't read silently you have no business with such a thing anyway!

3. Do not search the basement, especially if the power has gone out.

4. If your pets speak to you in Latin or any other language which they should not know, shoot them immediately. It will save you a lot of grief in the long run. However, it will probably take several rounds to kill them, so be prepared. This also applies to people who speak with somebody else's (usually deep) voice.

5. When you have the benefit of numbers, NEVER pair off or even split up and go it alone.

6. As a general rule, don't try to solve puzzles that open portals to Hell.

7. Never stand in, on, or above a grave, tomb, or crypt. This would apply to any other house of the dead as well.

8. If you're searching for something which caused a loud noise and find out that it's just the cat, GET THE HELL OUT!

9. If appliances start operating by themselves, lights go on and off, a fire just appears in the hearth, or doors open and close by themselves - do not check for drafts, do not check for short circuits; just get out!

10. Why, why, why would you even think of sleeping in that house if that happened?

11. Do not take ANYTHING from the dead.

12. If you find a town which looks deserted, there's probably a good reason for it. Don't stop and look around!

13. Don't fool with recombinant DNA technology unless you're sure you know what you're doing. And even if you're sure you know what you're doing, just don't fool with it!

14. If you're running from the monster, expect to trip or fall down at least twice. Also note that, despite the fact that you are running and the monster is merely shambling along, it's still moving fast enough to catch up with you.

15. If your companions suddenly begin to exhibit uncharacteristic behavior such as hissing, fascination for blood, glowing eyes, increasing hairiness, and so on, kill them immediately.

16. Stay away from certain geographical locations, some of which are listed here: Amityville, Elm Street, Transylvania, Nilbog (you're in trouble if you recognize this one), the Bermuda Triangle, or any small town in Maine.

17. If your car runs out of gas at night on a lonely road, do not go to the nearby deserted looking house to phone for help. If you think that it is strange because you thought you had half of a tank, shoot yourself instead. You are going to die anyway, and most likely be eaten.

18. If you find that your house is built upon a cemetery, now is the time to move in with the in-laws. This applies to houses that had previous inhabitants who went mad or died in some horrible fashion, or had inhabitants who performed satanic practices in your house.

19. When the exorcist/whatever declares the house is "clear", your troubles have just begun.

20. Never look under the stairs. or the bed. or in the closet. or the cellar, attic.....you get the idea.

21. Don't take anything back to the lab that looks like it might hatch real soon - especially if it is transparent, something inside is moving, or it appears to be lighted from within. In the same vein, never bend over to look into anything that looks like an opening egg.

22. If you don't want to be chased by the monster (or serial killer, shark, alien, giant snake, radioactive ants, etc.)...don't wear skimpy clothes or wet T-shirts.

23. If you are being chased by a car, don't run into the building, the car will corner you and rev it's engine menacingly before destroying the house, business, police station, etc. Whereas, if you just run down the road it can't catch you.

24. Never unwrap the mummy. (See........Always good to have duct tape on-hand just in case something unravels)

25. Going faster than some barrier: sound, light, gossip...is generally bad news for someone somewhere.

26. When flying on an airplane, at night, in a storm, don't raise the shade to see what that noise out on the wing was.

27. Don't talk to sheriffs wearing reflecting sunglasses in towns that are so small the gas station has one pump.

28. Silver works - garlic doesn't.

29. When all else fails HIDE AND DON'T COME OUT!

Be safe in the path of the storm

I'm just sitting here watching the big tree out my window sway in the breeze and I can't help but think of all the people bracing for the hurricane on the east coast. We are having cooler weather with rain but nothing I have to worry about too much. You can see the last big storm in my area here. Wishing everyone in the path of the storm all the best. Please be safe wherever you are my friends ♥

Concert Series: Miranda Cosgrove

On August 10, 2011 we took our granddaughter to see Miranda Cosgrove, you know Nickelodeon's iCarly (she also played the band manager in School of Rock). Ashley knows every episode by heart and Miranda's solo album had just came out. We were all very excited! Especially my hubby who stated if he never watched iCarly again or listened to the cd it would probably be too soon for him. Of course, he had a blast regardless of his taste in tv and music!

We went shopping for Ashley before the show and I let her pick out her outfit. A little fashionista I do believe. The hat was totally her idea! All items are from Kohls. I picked up the white skirt for myself and my top was from the Modcloth end of summer sale last year. I think you all know my old kicks :o) I, thankfully, finally got a couple of new pairs which you can see here and here.

We had 4th row seats and they allowed the kids to go down front which meant Ashley had a front row view. She was up there hand slapping and dancing like she was hot stuff. It certainly made us laugh. She met a little girl next to us who was with just her dad and who was also a bit younger. Ashley asked if she could take her down front and her dad let her. She watched out for her and they had a ball. The dad was so grateful I think he even enjoyed himself :o) Kids having a great time always puts a smile on everyone's face! Not to mention it was a great show all around! We had alot of fun teasing her about Greyson Chance. He hand slapped her, smiled and sang to her. You couldn't have wiped the smile from her face. I kept acting like I was swooning and swearing to never wash my hand and saying I was her :o)

I think she's in love ♥

Then it was time for Miranda! No lip syncing for that gal. She was awesome!

Did I mention the weather was beautiful with a big full moon?

What a great time we had! A night to be remembered ♥

The next morning I got online to check the website for professional pics at Fraze.com - Miranda Cosgrove. Unfortunately I learned that after Miranda left Ohio her bus had an accident and she broke her ankle which meant she had to cancel her last few concert dates. What a shame. Everyone is ok now though.

Check out the Miranda Cosgrove interview from our local radio morning show, Mix 107.7, the day of the show.

The video choice is not from our concert evening but was the only one I could find of my favorite song...Bam! Love it!

Just when you think it's time for a coat it warms up

♥ Boot Cut Jeans: Levi's
♥ Boots:  Ugg Classics

A couple of weeks ago, although sunny, it was cold enough in the evening hours to get out my new coat from last year. I wasn't sure about the color when I bought it but with oxblood being the color of fall this year it's perfect. Although more of a brick red it's still in the same color range. I purchased a couple of other coats so I didn't wear this one much but I plan to get it out more often this year. Although looking forward to wearing it more I am hoping for a mild winter. If the wooly worms are on my side, and they seem to be since the only ones I have seen were white, I won't be fighting too much snow. With it being in the 70's today who's thinking of snow anyway :o)

I love my Classic Ugg Boots

I'm still snapping those landscape pictures and this is my view going down the big hill into work everyday.  So pretty!
You can see why I am dreading snow.

Some shots taken for my photography class

Look at the blurry background!!! YAY! Now if I can just figure out how I did it :o)

If you've read any of my posts lately you must know that I am taking an online beginner photography class. I have been digging out camera manuals and taking it very slow, trying to let it all sink in before getting too far ahead of myself. I always used film cameras and when digital came along I never really learned how to use the settings modes. I decided awhile back I wanted dslr camera but could not see any use in getting one if I didn't know how to use it property but I got one anyway figuring it would give me motivation to learn to use it. I'm pleased to say it has. While I was at it I wanted to learn to use my Nikon Coolpix point and shoot too. After some initial reading it appeared that I didn't know a thing about taking pictures! After I mastered the point and shoot I planned to take on my new Nikon J1.  But before I got very far on my Coolpix I came across my old camera, which I thought was a lost cause but hadn't had the heart to throw it out. To my surprise and joy with a little help from a bag of rice it was revived. I was so excited that it was working again I decided to learn to use it first. When looking at it again it really doesn't have many settings at all. Surely I could learn to use this little fellow better. It is a Sony Cybershot which I have had for many years but never really learned how to use other than on auto.  In looking at it now it doesn't appear to be half as intimidating as I remembered. I guess my first 5 lessons are sinking in a bit. When I glanced through the manual most of it actually made sense. Wow! These are my favorites from the first set of shots taken using controls I set myself on my Cybershot. This is really fun :o) I finally bought a notebook to write notes in since I have no idea what settings I chose while taking these pictures. What was I thinking? Next time I'll try and include some real information ♥
