Happy New Year

I had hoped to get dressed up through Christmas and post something lovely but alas I was lucky to get dressed at all with everything going on. There were three days that I don't think I sat down for more than 10 minutes here and there. I went out one day with my best friend for a day of shopping, eating and drinking a few which is always an adventure in itself, made cookies and cupcakes with my granddaughter one day, went to my mom's for Christmas Eve and then had the family to my house for Christmas brunch. After all that my hubby needed a little attention so the day after Christmas we went out for a day of fun, just the two of us. Needless to say I needed to come back to work to rest up.  I've been complaining about my old desk computer for a couple years now and I guess Santa must have been listening because I ended up with a netbook and a laptop. The netbook will be just perfect for getting online and the laptop will be all mine with no sharing. Yay!

My yearly resolution is usually to get organized but I actually accomplished some of that last year so I'm not sure what my resolution will be this year. Probably to try and get more done online now that I have my snazzy new laptop. I'm looking forward to posting and being active in the blogging community next year. I am hopeful to get my ebay and etsy stores actually filled with items that I have stored in my extra room. Can't sell items unless I have them listed and I'm way behind. May even have to pop into Facebook more often and figure out what I'm doing there and catch up on what my friends and family are up to. As always, so much to do, so little time ♥

Wishing you all a wonderful and happy New Year!

Christmas Office Party Photo

We had our Christmas party the other night and it was a lot of fun! We didn't get to go to dinner last year so this year I was really wanting my Christmas steak (even though I got chicken) so I started trying to schedule something a couple weeks ago. Seems like it's harder when it's just a few people. If you have a crowd you just schedule and whoever can show up does but with only the three of us we all had to be available along with our spouses. I finally got everyone together at the last minute which meant dinner and drinks for me which made me happy. I even wore my velvet dress on casual day still hoping to go and not sure whether we would be going or not. I finally got the ok to call for reservations late morning and we all made it. Yay! We went to a lovely restaurant here in town. I should have gotten some pictures of it but I guess I was lucky to get everyone together for this photo op. After starting out with appetizers and drinks by the time I ordered dinner I didn't want much of it so I ordered some kind of chicken pasta and took most of it home for lunch the next day.  It was nice to spend some time laughing rather than discussing law cases which can be oh so boring. Now if I can just get my hands on that Christmas bonus I'll be ready for my holiday vacation. ♥

Songs for Saturday - VK Lynne

I first listened to VK Lynne as a friend on myspace a few years ago. I have found so many wonderful independent artists through myspace. When checking email this morn I was excited to see she has a Christmas song. With the same old Christmas songs every year I always love coming across something new. She is offering a free download of her song, "Salvation in the Skies" through myspace through the end of the month or you can get a widget of your own. She has a beautiful voice so turn up your speakers and enjoy!

Crabmeat Salad Recipe - Quick and Easy!

As my contribution to the Christmas spirit going on in the blogging community I thought I would share my crabmeat salad recipe. A friend gave it to me a long time ago and a friend gave it to her. I tweaked it and made it my own. It's really simple and so delicious. Perfect for making, and actually much better if you can make the day before so it is good and cold.

Here goes:
1/2 lb. crabmeat
1 onion
1 cucumber (I remove seeds but you don't have to)
4 ounces noodles
1 package dry original buttermilk ranch dressing
1 cup buttermilk
8 ounces sour cream
1/2 teaspoon of pepper
1 teaspoon of salt

Chop up and mix first 3 ingredients in large bowl. While chopping you can cook the noodles per directions. Drain and add to first mixture when done.

In a mixing bowl add the additional ingredients and mix on low until smooth and creamy. You can buy buttermilk ranch dressing and use milk instead of the buttermilk but it really is better if you just get the buttermilk and do it the right way but I have been rushed and used the other before and it's good, just not as creamy. Besides the left over buttermilk is excellent with popcorn! For you city girls, you get a glass and put a few kernels in at a time and eat with a spoon...yummy! You'll love it but it is a bit sour so make sure your popcorn has salt and not that air popped crap :o)

Pour the mixture over the dry ingredients and stir with a large spoon and there you go. Stir a couple times while cooling. I usually make it, put it in the fridge, stir it before I go to bed, stir in the morn and then right before serving. It will need to be refrigerated to cool and is great served with club crackers or your personal favorite. To serve a crowd you'll need to double the recipe. I have found making it over the years that I usually add more crabmeat since I love it so. Make it once and then tweak it yourself. I've only gotten rave compliments!!

♥ Sweater - Hampshire Studio -oh so soft and comfy!

I was pining for this dress!

Do you ever order something or buy something and then when it arrives in the mail or you get home with it it's actually not what you thought it was? I have a bad habit of doing that and I used to be worse than I am now. Last time was the beginning of summer when I needed a little cropped sweater to wear with some sleeveless dresses. I looked at the different sizes and somehow I bought an XL when I am a medium and I know they had a medium because I know I had it in my hand at one time or another. When I ordered this dress I thought it was black but was pleasantly surprised to find out it is actually green which is my favorite color. I wanted it before I bought it but didn't buy because something else black is certainly not what I need in my closet. If I had known I would have ordered it before I did. Glad I didn't miss out on it because I really like it and it will be perfect for the holidays. I checked the website just to see what I must have been reading when I read the description and right there big as life it states that it is pine-colored. I must have read right over that or thought it said something about pinecones. I guess I can still walk through the pinecones in my pine-colored frock rather than a black one ♥

I just looked up conifer and it means cone-bearing from evergreens and pines. Now I am laughing! Going to have to use my dictionary more often when I shop too.

Pantone's 2012 color of the year

Tango Tangerine wins the prize of being Panatone's color pick for 2012. Red-Orange, really? All I can say is YUCK! I won't be wearing this color due to my red hair but I'm sure it would look lovely on someone with blond hair. I've read that redheads can wear orange tones but they should wear them on their bottom half in a low dose such as a belt or shoes. I would think that advice would also fit for someone who shys away from bright colors but would like to have just a splash of color to brighten up a drab outfit during the cold winter. I do wear shades of red but think I will pass on the tangerine color this time around. You never know it might grow on me.

I must say that I do love the color in this flower print ♥

Let me introduce you to my baby, Fadra

I was just going through some old pictures and came across some that were taken this summer of me and Fadra. She is a bischon frise and feels like a big fluffy cotton ball. She was 2 years old on the 4th of July. My hubby got her for me for my birthday 2 years ago when she was only a few weeks old. What a surprise since he's not really into pets but now he worries about her more than I do. I had been hearing the song "Some Velvet Morning" on my iPod alot so I knew her name before we went to pick her up. The song just kept popping up even though I have tons of songs. I took it as fate and it seemed to fit her when I saw her. She goes to the beauty shop once a month where she gets to visit with her little dogfriend, Bosco who is a little Boston terrier. He goes nuts when she comes in and starts bringing her toys. It's so cute! She knows the words "beauty shop" and "Bosco" but somehow hasn't grasped "come" or "no". Needless to say she is spoiled rotten. I have tried all sorts of things for her brown eyes but nothing works so I just wash them out with baby shampoo every few days. She follows me practically every step I make so if you are thinking of getting a bischon they are a breed which needs alot of attention. She also needs to be brushed every couple days to keep her from matting up. She's great with kids and is very sweet. My little diva!

I found a short video clip I had taken of her while trying to figure out the video feature on my new camera. I joined Vimeo this morning and posted it as my first video. She's adorable, that's for sure! (If you watch the video turn your speakers down a bit at first. I just noticed when it starts she yelps out which might startle you or make your ears cringe :o)

Do you have a pet?

I also have a box turtle named Tommie but she doesn't get around too much. She's eats a mean worm, though!
